ABG UPDATES:


Gage Taylor, from Zephyr, Texas was appointed to the open Board Region 7 seat on March 10.


The Board of Directors are retroactively giving lifetime memberships to those who have been awarded Ambassador of the Breed.

ABGA MEMBER RETURNS AS USDA’S INDIANA FSA STATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:


A familiar face recently rejoined USDA’s Indiana Farm Service Agency (FSA). ABGA member Julia Wickard is their new State Executive Director.


“Agriculture runs deep in my roots, and I am a proud fourth-generation producer on our 176-year-old Hoosier homestead,” Julia said. “It is an honor, duty, and pleasure to live and take care of the land that was founded by my ancestors decades ago.”

INDUSTRY NEWS:


  • Purdue Extension’s 2022 Small Ruminant Webinar Internal Parasites of Sheep & Goats is at noon on April 28.

  • Students in the Hannaford Career Center Sustainable Agriculture Program and the FFA are raising a herd of Boer goats this year in Middlebury, Vt. The males were raised for meat and sent for slaughter. You can read the rest of the story here.

  • Baby elephants at the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Kenya lived off of powdered formula until supply chains were severely disrupted by the coronavirus. Thankfully, the answer was right in their backyard: goats. Read the whole story here.

  • Kawasaki’s new vehicle isn’t a GOAT. It is a goat. It’s no joke nor a play on the acronym GOAT. You can see for yourself here.

If you purchased an unregistered goat on application, you’re responsible for registration and transfer fees unless other arrangements have been made between you and the seller.
