Kate Schaefer
Kate can commonly be found mentoring youth at goat shows and other events.
Kate Schaefer is the daughter of Tim and Jennifer Schaefer and has two younger brothers, Tyler and Colton. Her family operates Schaefer Farms, a 200-head Boer meat goat farm, just outside of Adel, IA. This is where Kate found her passion for agriculture.
While attending Adel DeSoto Minburn High School, Kate was involved in soccer, track, student council, and of course FFA. She served as FFA Chapter President both her Junior and Senior years and was the top fundraiser all four years of high school. April of 2023, Kate hung up the jacket for the final time as an Iowa FFA State Officer, serving as a Vice President.
Her SAE project is based on Goat Production, which correlates to the activities Kate participates in and leads with the Junior Iowa Meat Goat Association. She currently serves as JIMGA President and can commonly be found mentoring youth at goat shows and other events. She continues to serve the goat industry in Iowa by hosting a 3-weekend goat show, with a fitting contest and Skill-a-thon for the youth in August every year.
Kate plans to major in Agricultural Communications, which suits her fun personality and keen ability to teach, sell, and network. She is detail-oriented and constantly making connections and working with others. Kate is eager to continue interacting with youth within the Junior American Boer Goat Association and helping them find their success.
