    JABGA Marketing Contest The marketing contest is a way for our youth to share highlights of JABGA and all that it has to offer. Marketing Contest Rules: What is it? The JABGA is introducing a new contest this year. The marketing contest is a way for our youth to share highlights of JABGA and all that it has to offer. The contest will highlight JABGA nationals and the regional show series contests that take place in June. It is also encouraged to focus on the location of nationals and all Louisville has to offer. How to participate? Members will create a social media post on Facebook, Instagram or both using #jabganationals. Junior members may use their own accounts or may use the account of a parent. The post will be a digital design created by the junior member to market the JABGA national show being in Louisville and all JABGA contests/ show events that take place during this week. The digital design will be posted online and then a high quality print out of the design will need to be submitted to the JABGA office in Louisville. Rules: This contest will NOT be required to participate in the unlock a lock. This contest will NOT go towards points for overall high point in the regional show series. Posts will need to be on social media no later than May 27th, 2024. The Junior members digital design will Not be judged based off of likes or shares from social media. Junior members will need to have a high-quality printout of their digital design and turn it into the JABGA office by Tuesday June 11th at noon. Do Not send the printout to the ABGA office in San Angelo. Judging process: To be fully entered into the contest the junior member must have a digital design on social media using #jabganationals and also have a high quality printed out version turned into the JABGA office. All digital designs will be judged, and the winners will be announced at the JABGA awards ceremony. Attendance is required to receive awards.     Anton Ward Get to know ABGA National Show Judge, Anton Ward. Anton Ward, a seasoned livestock judge and agricultural expert, was born and raised in the province of Tranvaal, now known as Limpopo Province, in South Africa. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Animal Science from Pretoria Technicon, which laid the foundation for his extensive career in livestock judging and animal husbandry. Anton moved to the United States in 1993, initially settling in North Carolina, where he lived until 2014 before relocating to Southwest Missouri, where he currently resides. Anton has been judging livestock since 1988, a passion that has seen him traverse numerous arenas across the United States and Canada. His expertise in the field led to his involvement with the American Boer Goat Association (ABGA) from its inception. Over the years, Anton has judged many major livestock shows, demonstrating his profound knowledge and commitment to the industry. His skills and experience have also been instrumental in training most of the early Canadian judges and many in the U.S., ensuring high standards and consistency in livestock judging. Notably, Anton has judged the prestigious ABGA National Show seven times, with his eighth appearance slated for 2024. In addition to raising Boer goats, Anton has also been dedicated to raising beef cattle since 2003. His lifelong dedication to livestock, combined with his extensive experience and training, makes Anton Ward a respected and influential figure in the agricultural community.     Groups and Pairs Classes Get familiar with the National Show Groups and Pairs Classes Photo by Pearl's Pics . GROUP CLASSES The following rules apply for group classes. Entry fee is $10 per group per show. Cash entries will be taken up to the time of group class verification deadline. Exhibitors must complete the entry form; listing each animal’s tattoo and registration number and submit it to the office for verification by 9 am of the day of the show. The goats must also be shown in their regular class. Any animal disqualified in a regular class for a cull fault or tattoo will not be eligible for the pairs or group classes. Fullblood Group Classes will follow the Fullblood Doe Overall Drive and Percentage Group Classes will follow the Percentage Doe Overall Drive. FULLBLOOD GET OF SIRE: Three Fullblood or Purebred offspring of the same buck with both sexes represented. Must have at least 1 of each sex. Any age and any sex. Do not have to be owned by the same person. PERCENTAGE GET OF SIRE: Three Percentage does, any age that are by the same buck. Do not have to be owned by the same person. FULLBLOOD PRODUCE OF DAM: Two offspring out of the same doe. Do not have to be owned by the same person. PERCENTAGE PRODUCE OF DAM: Two offspring out of the same doe. To be eligible, the dam must be registered in an ABGA Herd book. Do not have to be owned by the same person. FULLBLOOD BREEDER’S HERD: The exhibitor of the herd must be the breeder of record. Goats owned by other exhibitors may be included provided the exhibitor of the breeder’s herd was listed as the owner or co-owner of the dam of the included goat(s) at the time of conception: Two Fullblood or Purebred does less than 12 months, Two Fullblood or Purebred does 12 months or greater, A buck of any age. PERCENTAGE DOE BREEDER’S HERD: The exhibitor of the herd must be the breeder of record. Goats owned by other exhibitors may be included provided the exhibitor of the breeder’s herd was listed as the owner or co-owner of the dam of the included goat(s) at the time of conception: Two percentage does less than 12 months, Two percentage does 12 months or greater. PAIR CLASSES The following rules apply for pair classes. Entry fee is $10 per pair per show. Cash entries will be taken up to the time of the pair class verification deadline. Pair entries must have identical owners. Exhibitors must complete the entry form; listing each animal’s tattoo and registration number and submitted to the office for verification by 9am of each show. Animal information will be checked upon entry at the gate. The goats must also be shown in their regular class. Any animal disqualified in a regular class for a cull fault or tattoo will not be eligible for the pairs or group classes. Junior Pairs classes will follow the Junior Division Drive and the Senior Pairs classes will follow the Overall Drive. Best Pair of Doe/Buck Kids will follow the Junior Fullblood Doe Drive. BEST PAIR KIDS: Two animals shown in the 0–12-month classes of the respective division. Classes are Best Pair of Buck Kids, Best Pair of Fullblood Doe Kids, Best Pair of Percentage Doe Kids BEST PAIR ONE YEAR AND OLDER: Two animals shown in the yearling and/or senior classes of the respective divisions. Classes are Best Pair of Senior Bucks, Best Pair of Senior Fullblood Does, Best Pair of Senior Percentage Does BEST PAIR OF DOE/BUCK KIDS: Both sexes represented. One Fullblood/Purebred doe and a Fullblood buck kid that has been shown in respective classes. Two animals are shown in the 0-12 month classes of the respective division.     Ryan Rash Get to know JABGA National Market Show, Commercial Doe Show, and Market Showmanship Judge, Ryan Rash Ryan Rash is from Crockett, Texas and grew up showing every species of livestock. During his junior show career he exhibited 13 Grand or Reserve Grand Champion Steers at major livestock shows all over the United States. Rash graduated from Texas A&M University and was a member of the National Champion Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Team. During his collegiate judging careers he was in the top 10 individuals and in the top 10 of Oral reasons at every contest he entered and was the high point individual at 5 contests. Ryan Rash He is a co star of the Beyond The Ring Podcast, the Executive Director of the Beyond The Ring Junior Livestock Association and he owns and operates SBCC, a cattle company and consulting firm. He and his family have a club calf operation as well as a purebred Charolais and Hereford operation. He has judged every species of livestock at shows from the local to major show level throughout the US in 47 states, Canada and Mexico.
