I have never shown goats or had them for breeding purposes, but I did have a couple of pygmy goats growing up. I have three beautiful kids, one daughter and two boys. AJ Araiza, a native of the Southern California desert, was born in Palm Springs, CA, and raised in Indio, CA. In 2016, he and his wife relocated to New York, residing in Queens and Long Island while his wife pursued her doctorate until 2021. Following his wife's achievement of a PhD, they moved to San Angelo, Texas. Since 2021, AJ has been working at the American Boer Goat Association. During his time there, he developed the ABGA website ( abga.org ), redesigned all ABGA forms, and enhanced ABGA's social media presence. In his free time, AJ enjoys art, hiking, traveling, and listening to hip-hop, electronic, jazz, and 60s soul music. Corinna Belman started working with ABGA June 22, 2021, she has gained much knowledge and experience with goats since working at ABGA. She enjoys helping members with questions about registrations and membership. Corinna is also bi-lingual. When not in the office she loves family time, especially her 3 grandchildren, her dog Moe, and dancing. She also loves the outdoors, going camping and fishing. Catherine Whiteley has been working part-time for ABGA for the past two years. She is a Senior at Angelo State University and is graduating with a degree in Agriculture Education. Outside of work Catherine enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her mini Australian Shepard, Koda. She also enjoys fishing, long walks with her dog, and country dancing. When younger, Catherine showed commercial unregistered wether Boer goats for many years. Hannah Jenkins grew up in Central California, where she showed pigs across the nation. She attended Kansas State University and majored in Animal Science. Hannah was a member of the Reserve Champion Meat Judging Team and the National Champion Meat Animal Evaluation Team. She served on the National Junior Swine Association (NJSA) Junior Board of Directors and was a camp facilitator for Next Level Livestock Camps. Hannah began working as the Youth Coordinator for JABGA in December of 2022. She has enjoyed learning more about the Boer goat breed and working with youth in the industry. Diana Scarbrough is a Registration Clerk here at ABGA. She’s been at ABGA for over a year. She enjoys working at ABGA every day, and feels her coworkers are more like her family. Everyday in the office is always a new adventure. Diana has been married to her husband Brian for 18 years and has 4 grown kids. I am a native of San Angelo. Two weeks after my high school graduation, I enlisted in the United States Army to serve my country. Stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY in December 2010, I was deployed to Iraq from June 2011 to 2012. Following an honorable discharge, I relocated to the beautiful state of Tennessee, where I raised my daughter. In 2017, I returned to the great state of Texas and began my civilian career journey. The following year, I accepted a position in the trucking industry, initially working with over-the-road truckers. Mid-year, I transitioned to operations manager and dispatcher for frac sand haulers in the oil field. During this time, I pursued and obtained my bachelor’s degree in business management. Since then, I have furthered my professional and personal development, including getting engaged and holding roles as an office manager and accounts manager. With six years of management experience under my belt, I am confident that I am well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities presented by the fast-paced environment and diverse team at ABGA. Sonia Cervantez has been a full-time employee since August of 2015 and loves being our Accounts Receivable. She began her journey with ABGA in 2006 as a Registrations Clerk, which was short-lived just due to not coming from a goat industry background. She then had the opportunity to come back as Accounts Receivable several years later and to this day still loves that role. Sonia made the hard decision to leave in October of 2014 to focus on being a full-time mom and wife. In May of 2015, she was welcomed back to ABGA with open arms as a Contract Laborer and was later transitioned into a full-time employee because it felt like home to her. Now, years later, she still enjoys coming to work and interacting with the members who have now become a part of her family. Her favorite part is the relationships she’s built with the members. Sonia has been happily married for 20 years and has one daughter. She’s bilingual and loves spending time with loved ones, going to church, watching movies, dancing, playing games but her all-time favorite thing to do is makeup.
