JABGA Board of Directors

True leadership lies in guiding others to success. In ensuring that everyone is performing at their best, doing the work they are pledged to do and doing it well.

-Bill Owens

The opportunity to be involved with the JABGA Board of Directors will enhance leadership skills, teach teamwork, and provide preparation for a successful career. Junior members elect two candidates by ballot from each of the five areas to represent their area.  The responsibilities of a JABGA Board member are to provide governance, direction, fundraising ideas and promotion of Boer goats.  Approval of implementation of programs within the Junior American Boer Goat Association is provided by the Youth Committee and the ABGA Board of Directors.

  • Rachel Burke
    Term Expires –

Hello, my name is Rachel Burke and I am very honored to be representing Area 1 on the JABGA Board of Directors. I am 20 years old and a Sophomore at Washington State University where I am majoring in animal science and hoping to become a veterinarian.  Growing up I was a part of 4-H and that’s where I first fell in love with and started showing Boer goats. In high school I was a part of FFA and served as chapter president and competed on several teams including food science and livestock judging. I also was very active in sports growing up and in high school. I have been showing registered Boer goats in ABGA for eleven years. As one of the JABGA directors I hope to be able to give back to the Boer goat industry that has made such a huge impact on my life. I am this year’s Junior National and Regional Committee Show Chair and I am serving on several other committees. I am really looking forward to being a part of the Board of Directors again this year and I hope to make a positive impact on the youth that are the future of this industry.

  • Cecelia Knott, Secretary
    Term Expires – June 30, 2020

Hello, my name is Cecelia Knott. I am 17 years old. I am very excited to be serving as secretary in my first term on the JABGA Board of Directors. I will be a senior in high school this year. When I am not caring for my herd, I enjoy designing handmade jewelry and being actively involved in my church’s youth group. I can’t begin to say how much the Boer goat industry has meant to me over the past 7 years. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I didn’t want to just show Boer goats, I wanted to have my own breeding program and really invest myself into the industry. It has given me a confidence to be who I am, and a determination to work hard for not only myself but for my herd. I couldn’t begin to list the people within the industry that have supported me with their willingness to teach, answer questions, mentor, and encourage me. My passion is to provide other juniors those same opportunities to grow their skills and develop their herds and their love for this industry. It is my desire to hear the issues that are important to the junior members and serve as the eyes, ears, and hands for those members I represent across Area 2.
