DNA PROGRAM REPORT

DNA Report provided by Mark Anderson, DNA Committee Chair

Tremendous start to the ABGA DNA program in 2014.  2,169 DNA Sample Test Kit requests have been processed by the ABGA office since the DNA Testing Program went live on April 16, 2014.  This is three times more than UC Davis projected would be done in the first year.  We want to thank the membership for the active involvement in kicking-off the program during the voluntary year.

Of the 2,169 DNA Sample Test Kit requests, 787 have been processed between December 2, 2014 and January 5, 2015.   Of the 1374 DNA Sample Test Kit requests processed prior to December 2, 2014, 900 plus had not been sent into UC Davis with samples as of December 2, 2014.

This delay in sending in samples to UC Davis for testing is creating a serious delay in getting DNA Test results back to members.  ABGA has addressed this and are taking steps to ensure the membership gets their DNA samples processed and the results in a timely matter.  In the future DNA samples must arrive at UC Davis within 60 days of the Sample Test Kit date, or the Test Kit will be canceled.  In the meantime, please be prepared to experience delays in receiving test results for the next few weeks until the backlog is cleared out.

Again, thanks for the support!
